DRAFN'S 29th ANNIVERSARY

July 11th -13th, 2008

In the Summer!

Let all men know: From the Baltic to the Black Sea that the time has come for the 29th Lemming Gathering. This year no more freezing the tail off your Drafn, because Drafn anniversary will be in the summer!

The facility: We will be camping at Horse Heaven camp site on Mount Laguna (same place as the summer games last year). The camp is surrounded by acres of pine forest. Temperatures are nice even when the rest of the east county is sweltering. This will be a camping event. There is running water and out-houses of fine perfume for your use, but no showers. Garb is required for the weekend.

Friday Night Event: TBA

Membership Meetings: There will be a Drafn meeting on Saturday around 1ish. This will be for all Drafn members (good blue bordered members and up). Then the voting members will adjourn for a short meeting to discuss super secret stuff.

Saturday Night Feast: TBA

Drafn Champion: Dust off you axes spears and bows. We will once again be holding a series of contests of Viking skill to select new Drafn Champions. There will be an open category, and a Women and Youth category for women and youth 14 and under. The competition will consist of:

1. War Tourney (Drafn round, and ax or war weapon 28” or less) or Boffer Contest
2. Single handed Axe throw
3. Archery (twenty yards, six shots)
4. Tequila Crossbow Duel (anyone over 21 must drink to enter)
5. Spear Toss
6. Saga Writing (one to four pages)

Other contests
1. Hammer Toss, Friday night
2. Best Garb at the feast

We will do our best to have equipment to loan, but you will do better if you bring your own. Volunteers are needed to help with the games and festivities.

Costs: The entire three days, and two nights will be a mere $20 per person for anyone over 12 years old (physically, not mentally) and includes a Saturday night feast for the first 60 to register. Children to 12 years are free. Send your money to the Daneguilder, Kara the Twin.

What you need to provide: Food and drink for the weekend (except for the Saturday night feast), Garb (this is a costumed event), Feast gear (for Saturday night), and what ever else you need to survive the weekend.

Directions: From San Diego take Interstate 8 East to the Sunrise Highway exit. Turn left (north) and drive about 13 miles north on Sunrise Highway through the town (don’t blink or you will miss it) of Mt Laguna. The Horse Heaven Campground entrance is on the left. There is a sign but if you are driving fast it is easy to miss. If you reach the Al Bahr Shrine camp, you have gone too far. There are three camp sites, we are the one farthest in on the right side (Holy Hock Camp).
